The ending of A Levels and the beginning of a degree

My time as a student at Uxbridge College was over the day I received my results and confirmation of getting into Loughborough University. Now I'll only be part of Uxbridge College through the Alumni, which is great. I have had some good times there and got some new experiences out of it, which I may not have got if I had stayed on at 6th form at Greenford High School.

Many of you must be wondering what results I achieved from my overall A Levels last Thursday 14 August 2008, right? Well, here is a brief answer:

  • OCR MEI Mathematics - A
  • OCR MEI Further Mathematics - C
  • OCR Physics (A) - D

I personally am happy with these results as they still allowed me to get onto the degree programme that I wanted - Electronic and Electrical Engineering (BEng 4 Yr Sandwich) [EEE]. I was a little disappointed when I saw certain module results, but then I thought overall at least I'm moving on and do not need to retake a whole year or go through Clearing as I missed my offer. Hopefully, I'll try and get all the module results posted up with the UMS score.

Since then, I have been receiving paperwork from Loughborough University to fill in to ensure my accommodation and registration is complete, along with my medical. Also, as my place is confirmed, I have received a letter from UCAS proving this, and this letter allows me to open up a student bank account. For 08-09, the best student deal is from NatWest, which I have signed up for as it gives you quite a large interest/fee free overdraft which is beneficial for every student. Also, you get a 5 year Railcard pass which allows you 33% discount of rail tickets, which will be useful for me for travelling 120 miles down to London when I need to. :)

Furthermore, since the beginning of August, I have been attending the gym - Virgin Active - and have found it awesome so far! It's been a couple of years since I haven't gone to a gym! I definitely need to improve my overall fitness as my sporting days are going to start again at Loughborough! Get ready for the improved me! Doing resistance training along with cardiovascular training which is mainly endurance along with speed integrated. I'll try and post up my fitness plan sometime soon.

My plan is to now try and blog as many times as I can, especially during my degree programme so future students can get a taste of what it is like. We all know how GCSEs and A Levels are as many people have gone through it, but a degree is completely different and so hopefully this will provide an insight for those generally interested in going to university and for those who are interested in doing EEE.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment! :)
